What is Stop Living Wounded?

Updated: Feb 19

Stop Living wounded is part psychology - part sociology - part theology all to motivate you to live the life God intended.

While I hold doctorates in pastoral and biblical counseling - a masters in sociology - and two bachelors in social behavior - Stop living wounded wasn’t’ birthed through academics.

It actually started as a declaration. You see, I’ve been through a lot in my life as many of you have. I was Born and raised in the vineyard housing projects in Benton harbor Michigan. Over the course of my life, I was raped that lead to a lifestyle of sexual addiction. I lived with a physically abusive alcoholic stepdad, had children die in my arms, divorced twice, failed suicide, multiple spinal surgeries, a partial amputated finger. Okay thats enough. You get the picture [Full Journey Here].

While living in houston years ago with my current wife of 17 years, my lungs started to go out. First there was a cough. Then phlegm. Then blood in the phlegm. Then just blood. My oxygen was dropping fast and a lack of oxygen was causing havoc on my body. At one point, I was on 14 different meds to include organ transplant meds, wearing a heart monitor because of the excessive palpitations, and my brain felt like it was broken.

There’s a coorelation with oxygen intake and brain functionality but thats a differnt message for a different time.

At about 3 in the morning, because of on-going insomnia, I was out walking, and I heard a voice say, “When will you stop living wounded? I screamed, I am not living wounded, I am wounded and you’re not helping. I heard the voice again say, “Ken, stop living wounded.”

I eventually began to understand that, although I have had a lot of drauma and trauma in my life, the real problem was that I was living my life a slave to my drama and trauma.

Our bible says we are slaves to whatever has mastered us.

The goal of this ministry is to stir you, challenge you, and YES come alongside you in your own healing journey. The goal is to encourage you to say, "Enough is enough."

Stop Living Wounded is not about getting rid of wounds (although I pray it does); stop living wounded is a declaration that my wounds will no longer stop me from living life that God intended.

I end with this, “If you continue to do, what you’ve always done, you will always have, what you always had.”
